On Thursday 28th November, under the skilled tuition of Christoph Werner - Jasmine Weng, Ewan MacDonald and Meg Beresford spent a day making Stollen and four sets of gingerbread biscuits.

Together they baked six beautiful Stollen cakes; which had to be cooked by the end of November so they have time to mature ready for Christmas.

The ginger and cinnamon biscuits came in four different varieties: ground almonds, oatmeal, coconut and peanut flavoured. Again they will be better if allowed to mature for a couple of weeks, if people can resist them for so long!

We are very fortunate to have Christoph Werner, a former Helpx volunteer living close by as he is an expert baker and good teacher. He has run workshops for Wiston Lodge on making sourdough and other real breads. He would relish the opportunity to do this again in the future, so please get in touch if you are interested in joining a course in the spring.
