We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our Camera Fundraising Appeal.
With your generous donations we have been able to buy two fantastic Pentax Optio Cameras. The cameras are waterproof to 12 metres, coldproof, shockproof and even crushproof! They come with clipped attachments and floats so that they can be used on the climbing activities, in the woods and on the water, throughout the year.
We were also able to purchase a new colour printer, which will enable us to produce all of Wiston Lodge’s publicity in-house, when advertising our events, courses and opportunities.
The cameras were road-tested (or rather water-tested) recently, when we held a Volunteers’ Canoe Taster Session on the Pond. Although we are still finding our way around the new technology, we managed to capture some interesting shots, including some underwater video footage of young tadpoles.
One of our regular instructors gave her feedback: “The cameras are a fantastic new resource for Wiston Lodge staff and volunteer team! They will enable us to capture what we do well and to use it to spread the word about our work in the local and wider Scottish community. We are working hard on developing our publicity, social media and marketing but anything that helps us develop this is invaluable. Oh and the kids are going to love the underwater pictures in the summer!”
We want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all those people who donated to our Camera Appeal. We are looking forward to using the cameras during the Summer Holiday Adventures and at the Everest Tinto Challenge! We believe that the media we capture, carefully marketed, will help us reach out to a wider audience, will create more social business for the charity and will enable yet more people to join the Wiston Lodge network.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Wiston Lodge again soon and to capturing your pictures for our growing archive!
