LEADER funding for feasibility study into 'future-proofing' Wiston Lodge.
At the end of June Wiston Lodge was successful in gaining grant funding from LEADER, Rural Communities Heritage Fund (RCHF) which is financed by South Lanarkshire Rural Partnership and Scottish Natural Heritage and administered by the Rural Development Trust This was for £6700 to enable us to carry out a Feasibility Study on the repairs and alterations required to the Lodge and Estate buildings to take it into the next thirty years. We have engaged Kenneth Ferguson and partners as the Surveyors and Smith and Brown as the Architects to carry out this work.
This report, due in early September, will identify all the repairs required to be made to the buildings looking at roofs, water-goods, heating, insulation, draught exclusion, plumbing and electrical supply. Also we have put a lot of thought in to the alterations required to the Lodge for the future to better serve the needs of our guests so there will be some changes to accommodate more showers, gender specific toilets, adjustments made to the service areas for example.
Once the report has been agreed then we will use it, as a tender document for the contractors, to raise the funds required to carry out the work and to help us prioritise the work
We would like to take this opportunity of thanking LEADER Rural Communities Heritage Fund (RCHF) for giving us this chance to invest in the sustainability of our buildings and operation for the future.
