Over the years we have welcomed volunteers from around the world who help us achieve our mutual aims by maximising the use of their own skills. We are a friendly and supportive staff team some of whom live in the Lodge and in the cottages on the Estate. We offer volunteers full board, laundry, wifi and a community in exchange for mutually agreed work within the Lodge or the Estate and we can guarantee you an unforgettable experience and in some cases even life changing.
Wendy Johnstone, a local community educator, is currently working as our Volunteering Development Worker. She’s with us for 4 months to strengthen and expand our volunteering opportunities! The post is funded by the Vodafone Foundation’s World of Difference Programme, which enables 500 successful applicants each year to for work their favourite charities!
Since we became an independent charity in 2007, Wiston Lodge has made a number of very committed Friends. It is important to us to add to this group, especially now. In times of economic difficulty and cutbacks, there are more and more young people in need of the unique brand of personal, social and emotional development we offer.
When you become a Friend, we will keep in touch through our newsletters, our website and Facebook page. We will tell you about Open Days, our annual Burns Supper, and the many other events organised throughout the year. For Founding Friends back in 2007, we planted a number of orchard trees in our garden area. Perhaps you would like to have a tree planted in for you in one of the regenerated woodlands on the estate.
In turn, by becoming a Friend, you could help us in three ways:
Even if you don't have time or money to spare, you can still help support Wiston Lodge. Tell your friends about us, pass on our leaflets and newsletters, and just keep thinking about how the people you know and meet can use Wiston Lodge!
As an independent charity, we always welcome opportunites to receive sponsorship from various individuals and organisations.
